Protect your child from the sun!

It is extra important for children to be protected from the sun. Their skin is extra sensitive, and the more often one gets burnt as a child, the greater the risk of skin cancer as an adult. Therefore, make sure that you child wears a t-shirt and sunhat, and whenever possible sunglasses, combined with a sunscreen lotion that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, as recommended by dermatologists. Infants should not stay out in the sun at all. Remember that the sun burns even in the shade.

Skalman's sun school

  • Do not expose infants or small children for direct sunlight.
  • Use protective clothing on your child, together with an effective sunscreen.
  • Keep your child shaded when the sun's rays are strongest.
  • Apply sufficient sunscreen to your child 20 minutes before sun exposure.
  • Too little sunscreen provides poor protection.
  • Reapply sunscreen often during the day, to maintain the sunscreen's effect, especially after bathing, sweating and towel-drying.
  • Overexposure to sun represents a serious health risk.
  • Do not allow your child to stay in the sun too long, even with sunscreen; sunscreen never provides 100% protection.

To prevent discolouration of textile, apply sunscreen long enough in advance of dressing your child.
